Christer takes the crown
SSP’s Christer Rødseth, head chef at Le Grand Comptoir, Oslo Airport, has proven that he is unquestionably one of the brightest rising stars of the culinary world.
Earlier this summer, Christer and his competition partner Geir Magnus Svae took home the gold medal at the WACS (World Association of Chefs Society) Global Chef Challenge which took place in South Korea.
In a dramatic final, Christer and Geir beat off competition from six other finalists, preparing a stunning four course meal that wowed the judges.
Founded in 1928, the WACS is a global organisation that currently has 82 member countries and represents over 10 million chefs world-wide. The WACS competition is held as part of the WACS Congress, an event that has taken place over 74 years in 20 countries, and this year’s event was attended by over 2,000 chefs.
Winning the organisation’s prestigious contest has not quenched Christer’s enthusiasm for competition. In October, he will be heading to Erfurt in Germany for the 23rd Internationale Kochkunst Ausstellung (more popularly known as the ‘Culinary Olympics’), as part of the junior Norwegian chef’s team along with nine other young Norwegian culinary hot-shots.
